AVIF to JPG

New

File Conversion Tools

Decode a still AVIF image and export JPG using your browser. Set JPEG quality and a solid background for transparent areas.

Tool workspace

Files are processed locally in this browser. Limit: 10 MiB; SVG: 1 MiB. Images must be at most 16 megapixels and 8192 px per side.

Example

Turn a still AVIF website photo into a JPG for an editor that does not accept AVIF. Transparent areas use your chosen background.

Requires your browser's AVIF decoder. Animated AVIF and some advanced profiles are unsupported. JPG is lossy and does not preserve transparency, HDR or source metadata.

Enable JavaScript to activate these controls and process your input in the browser.

How to Use AVIF to JPG

Use the controls above, then check the example and limitations below.

1

Select a still AVIF

Choose a non-animated AVIF under 10 MiB. Unsupported profiles and oversized image dimensions receive an error.

2

Set JPG appearance

Choose JPEG quality and the background color used behind transparent pixels.

3

Export JPG

Convert, check the output dimensions and byte size, then download the JPG. Compare colors with the source when color fidelity matters.

What is AVIF to JPG & How Does It Work?

AVIF is useful for compact web images, but many older editors and upload forms expect JPEG. This tool uses your browser's still-image AVIF decoder and exports a conventional JPG at the decoded dimensions.

Transparent pixels need a solid background because JPG has no transparency. Choose the color before converting. HDR and wide-gamut appearance can change during browser canvas rendering, and animation is not supported.

Key Features & Benefits

Explicit decoder errors

Reports unsupported AVIF instead of pretending a conversion succeeded.

βœ“

Background control

Choose the solid color needed for JPEG's opaque pixels.

🎯

Common Use Cases

✦

Photo editors

Prepare a web image for an application without AVIF support.

✦

Opaque upload forms

Composite a transparent AVIF against a chosen background before submitting it as JPG.

Frequently asked questions

AVIF decoding depends on the browser and image profile. Animated sequences, invalid headers and images the browser cannot decode are rejected. Browser decoders may tolerate some damaged data, so compare the result with your source. Try a current browser or a standard still AVIF export.

JPG has no alpha channel. Transparent pixels are composited over the background color you choose. Canvas export uses the browser's rendered pixels; HDR, animation and source metadata are not retained.
