JFIF to JPG

New

File Conversion Tools

Convert JFIF photos into a fresh JPG file locally. Choose JPEG quality and download a standard .jpg image.

Tool workspace

Files are processed locally in this browser. Limit: 10 MiB; SVG: 1 MiB. Images must be at most 16 megapixels and 8192 px per side.

Example

A downloaded photo named portrait.jfif becomes portrait.jpg with JPEG bytes and your selected quality.

JFIF is already a JPEG container. Renaming may be enough for some apps; this tool decodes and re-encodes for a fresh JPG, which may alter quality and remove metadata.

How to Use JFIF to JPG

Use the controls above, then check the example and limitations below.

1

Choose a JFIF photo

Select a .jfif, .jfi or JPEG file under 10 MiB. The JPEG signature and dimensions are checked before decoding.

2

Choose quality

Start at 90%. A lower setting often produces a smaller file with more visible artifacts.

3

Convert and compare

Convert to JPG, review the reported dimensions and size, then download the new image. Keep the original if you need its metadata.

What is JFIF to JPG & How Does It Work?

A .jfif photo often already contains JPEG-compressed pixels. The compatibility problem may be the filename accepted by an upload form or editor. This converter decodes the source and creates new JPEG bytes with a .jpg extension.

Re-encoding gives you a quality control, but it is not lossless. Keep the source and compare the downloaded result. The conversion uses browser canvas, so embedded source metadata is not carried through as an editing archive.

Key Features & Benefits

βœ“

Real JPEG output

Checks the source JPEG signature and exports image/jpeg bytes.

βœ“

Local conversion

The selected image is decoded and encoded in this browser, without a file-processing upload.

🎯

Common Use Cases

✦

Upload compatibility

Create a .jpg file for an editor or form that refuses .jfif names.

✦

New JPEG export

Choose a deliberate compression level for a downloaded JPEG-family photo.

Frequently asked questions

JFIF is a container convention used by many JPEG files. Some applications only accept .jpg filenames. This tool decodes and re-encodes the image rather than simply renaming it; that can change image quality and metadata.

JPEG re-encoding is lossy, even at a high quality setting. Keep the original file. If an application only needs a filename ending in .jpg, a rename may be sufficient without re-encoding.
