What is Military Time Converter & How Does It Work?

A 24-hour clock removes the AM/PM label by numbering hours from 00 through 23. Compact HHMM writes the same hour and minute without a colon: 2:30 PM is 14:30 or 1430. This converter accepts either direction and displays all three forms together.

Midnight belongs to an explicitly stated date. Here 0000 means the start of the day; 2400 is rejected rather than silently advancing the date. This is a clock-format conversion, not a duration calculation, time-zone adjustment or military zone-letter interpretation.

✦

Noon and midnight

1200 is noon; 0000 is midnight at the start of a day.

Frequently asked questions

12:00 PM is noon: 12:00 or 1200. 12:00 AM is midnight at the start of a day: 00:00 or 0000. State the date explicitly when midnight could be ambiguous.

This converter accepts clock hours 00–23 and minutes 00–59. It rejects 2400, seconds, dates and time zones. Use 0000 and specify the intended date separately.
