Translate English plain text to International Morse Code and decode Morse code back to text. Includes real-time audio playback with customizable WPM and tone pitch.
Follow these simple steps to get instant, accurate results directly in your browser:
Type plain English words into the text field, or paste dots and dashes (. and -) into the Morse box.
Click the Play button to hear real-time sound beeps generated via Web Audio API oscillators.
Adjust transmission speed (WPM) and audio frequency (e.g. 550 Hz to 800 Hz) to match your ear.
The Morse Code Translator is a bidirectional telecommunications tool that translates plain English text into standard International Morse Code (dots and dashes) and decodes Morse signals back into legible characters. It includes interactive audio playback featuring customizable WPM (words per minute) speeds and audio pitch frequencies.
Developed in the 1830s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail for the electrical telegraph, Morse Code encodes each alphanumeric character as a unique sequence of short signals ('dits' represented as '.') and long signals ('dahs' represented as '-'). A dah is exactly three times the duration of a dit, spacing between elements of the same letter is one dit, spacing between letters is three dits, and spacing between words is seven dits.
This tool implements the official ITU-R M.1677-1 International Morse Code recommendation, translating alphanumeric characters, punctuation marks, and international accented characters accurately with zero audio latency.
Generates clean sinusoidal audio beeps without external MP3 audio assets.
Seamlessly converts Text to Morse and Morse to Text simultaneously.
Fine-tune transmission speed and tone frequency to suit training needs.
Accurately enforces the 1:3:7 standard timing ratio for dits, dahs, and word pauses.
Train your ear for CW (continuous wave) telegraphy transmission exams and field day operations.
Learn life-saving distress signals, including the universal emergency distress call SOS (... --- ...).
Identify Morse audio identifiers transmitted by VOR radio beacons and marine navigation aids.
