Use the controls above, then check the example and limitations below.
Choose SVG artwork
Upload a self-contained SVG made from safe paths, shapes and supported local gradients. Remove active or external content.
Pick icon dimensions
Select one square size. A simple square source usually gives the clearest small icon.
Create ICO
Convert and download the ICO. Test it in the target browser or application, especially when legacy ICO compatibility is required.
What is SVG to ICO & How Does It Work?
A browser favicon or desktop icon often needs a square raster asset even when the master logo is SVG. This converter rasterizes safe SVG artwork into a selected square and places the PNG bytes inside a real ICO directory.
The file contains one size: 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 or 256 pixels. Artwork is fitted proportionally with transparent padding. For tiny icons, inspect the result in its intended app: thin lines and small text may become hard to see.
Key Features & Benefits
Valid ICO container
Writes ICONDIR and an image entry pointing to the actual PNG payload.
Clear compatibility scope
One resolution per file; legacy BMP-only and multi-resolution requirements need a separate editor.
Common Use Cases
Favicon creation
Create a 16 or 32 pixel icon from an existing vector logo.
Modern app icons
Generate a transparent PNG-compressed ICO for a reader that supports it.
